8 Day Practical Cooking Class Timetable for Children (Ages 7–14)
Note for Parents:

- Children should come with their water bottles.
This timetable is designed to be highly engaging, hands-on, and educational, focusing on kitchen safety, healthy eating, and practical cooking skills. Each day includes a safety focus, a hands-on cooking activity, and a healthy drink.
Day 1: Kitchen Safety & Introduction
Safety Focus: Handwashing, safe food handling, identifying kitchen hazards, and basic first aid.
Practical Activity: Kitchen scavenger hunt (find and name utensils, appliances, and safety items).
Healthy Drink: Fruit-infused water (let kids choose fruits and herbs to add).
- Breakfast parfaits
- Welcome pastry treat will be shared for children to have with their parfaits after class.
Day 2: Breakfast Basics – Eggs, Sausages & Pancakes
Safety Focus: Safe use of the stove and hot surfaces, cracking eggs, and cleaning up spills.
Practical Activity: Make protein-packed egg bites and 3-ingredient banana pancakes.
Healthy Drink: Strawberry banana smoothie.
Day 3: Easy Lunches – Sandwiches & Wraps
Safety Focus: Knife safety (using child-safe knives), spreading, and assembling ingredients.
Practical Activity: Prepare veggie and cheese wraps, and chicken or hummus sandwiches.
Healthy Drink: Watermelon juice.
Day 4: Snacks & Picnic Meals
Safety Focus: Safe use of peelers and graters, packing food safely for picnics.
Practical Activity:
- Cupcakes
- Cookies
- Pack a picnic box with snacks and a healthy treat.
Healthy Drink: Lemonade.
Day 5: Fun with Pasta, Grains and Vegetables
Safety Focus: Washing produce, using peelers, and safe chopping techniques.
Practical Activity:
- Prepare chopped vegetables
- Make vegetables with Jollof rice
- Stir fry vegetables with chicken and pasta/noodles
Day 6: Fun with Grilling and Frying
- Grilled chicken drumsticks
- Corn on the cob
- Plantain frying
Safety Focus: Oven safety, proper use of oven mitts, cooking tongs, and kitchen sterile gloves. Learning how to operate a fryer (plantain frying).
Day 7: Healthy Lunches – Salads & Simple Hot Meals
Safety Focus: Safe use of the oven/microwave, handling hot dishes, and portioning.
Practical Activity: Prepare a colorful pasta salad and lasagna.
Day 8: Review, Create & Celebrate
